Pat O’Leary earned a B.Sc. in Mathematical Science in 1967, an M.Sc. from the National University of Ireland, Galway and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University. He spent two years as a post-doctoral fellow in National University of Ireland, Galway before lecturing in the College of Technology, Kevin Street, Dublin (now DIT) for three years. He lectured in the National University of Ireland, Cork for a year before taking up his present position at NUI, Galway in 1978. He has spent sabbatical leaves at the University of Colorado, Boulder and UNAM in Mexico City.
Research Interests: Pat’s research interest is in Wave Propagation and in the use of Symbolic Computation in Mechanics. He has published works on wave propagation in elastic and viscoelastic media.
